PROFESSIONAL BIO
Ms. April is a dedicated musician and educator with a strong background in violin performance, refined under the mentorship of Daniel Vega-Albela and Moni Simeonov. She has a passion for fostering musical growth in students and has developed a personalized teaching style that adapts to each learner’s needs. Currently, Ms. April works as an instructional coach, leading sectionals and teaching students ranging from beginners to advanced musicians. She specializes in helping students improve their technique, musicality, and overall understanding of music, with a particular focus on string instruments, especially violas. Through her patient and structured approach, she empowers students to reach their full potential while nurturing a love for music.
Beyond her work as an instructional coach, Ms. April has honed her teaching skills in diverse settings, including summer festivals and specialized music programs. At the Classical Music Institute, she coached children in San Antonio, guiding them through chamber music and string quartet work. Her work with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra’s Tocando program allowed her to teach underserved students in grades 3-6, where she focused not only on musical technique but also on building confidence, discipline, and respect. These experiences have helped Ms. April develop a strong ability to connect with students from various backgrounds and adapt her teaching methods to suit their unique learning styles.
Ms. April’s teaching philosophy emphasizes a balance between solid technique and expressive performance. She has worked with students in a wide range of settings, from private lessons to group instruction, and has coached both novice and seasoned musicians. Through her work, she continues to encourage students to take risks, experiment with new styles, and gain confidence in their abilities. As she works toward completing her Master’s degree in Instrumental Performance, Ms. April remains committed to inspiring her students through thoughtful, engaging lessons that build both their technical skill and artistic expression.
